African HIV policy network

Ethnic Communications worked closely with the African HIV Policy Network (AHPN) to develop a programme which aimed to change the attitudes and behaviours amongst the African communities within the UK.

The core focus was to challenge the stigma attached to HIV carriers by raising the issue of HIV and its stereotypes within key media relevant to the African Diaspora, by creating a positive and newsworthy story.

Alongside a strong PR campaign we held a ground breaking event connecting people living with HIV in the UK with key agencies (such as Positive East and Zimbabwe Women's Network UK).

Both activities were supported by a Media Forum featuring the African media in the UK with emotive monologues of people living with HIV.

We also managed the launch of a major policy report for the AHPN conveying key messages about challenging the stigma and discrimination linked with HIV.
